The Covenant is found within Rancho Santa Fe and gets its history from when parcels of land were sold in the 1920s for avocado and citrus groves. Soon, homes were built that provided breathtaking views of the valleys, mountains, as well as the Pacific Ocean.
The name comes from a Protective Covenant that was put into place when the Rancho Santa Fe Association was formed back in 1927. The historic part of the city is now simply called “The Covenant”. It is where there are many country estates and in the 2000 census, it was deemed the wealthiest community inside of the United States.
